Counting down to ‘Advocate evening’ when the Share the Light Advocate community meet up for their annual event. A chance to reconnect, reminisce and chat to the new group of students going to Zambia this summer.
The first students from Salesian College visited Zambia in 2012, prior to the project becoming a UK registered charity. Students have continued to travel there each summer to participate in, what for many, is a life changing experience “I left not having given to those who I had assumed had less than me, but having received so much. I gained a taste of a purer joy than any I had previously known!” (Scott’s blog Jan 2018)
It is testament to this experience that upon returning they continue to champion the work as Advocates of Share the Light.
Whilst the annual event has a serious element it is also great fun. Last year they made a film to send to the girls at the City of Joy to remind them they remain in hearts and minds. “I cannot wait to go back to the City of Joy to see the smiling faces of all the girls again” (Alicia’s blog Apr 2018)
